No Suitable Driver State

My ultimate issue was that I was using the incorrect DataSource class because I was just following along with online tutorials/examples. This way it is working for me. Class.forName not required with JDBC v.4 Starting with Java 6, Class.forName("something.jdbc.driver.YourFubarDriver") is not necessary anymore if you use a recent (JDBC v.4) driver. useful reference
