In spite of this modification the Device Manager still shows the installed device as "Firewire scanner" Thinking that this could be the reason that the device is not recognized by NikonScan, I have loaded this software on my Windows Vista 32 bit laptop and the scanner driver loaded without a problem. I'd had this same problem of buying a new computer with Windows 7 instead of Windows XP, and my very expensive Nikon Coolscan V slide scanner ceased working.Your advice was clear October 18, 2014 9:20 PM Anonymous said... I strongly suggest that you contact the idiots at Nikon and ask them for a consultancy fee to post this fix on their site. January 26, 2014 3:34 AM Tom Tommesen said...
I had to make a small edit to Steel's ini file, copying the LS-5000 into the [Models.ntamd64] section as follows: [Models.ntamd64] ; USB scanners "Nikon LS-10" = SCSIScanner,SCSI\ScannerNikon___COOLSCAN________ "Nikon LS-20" = Your solution works great. device". Your wait for the next generation of our software is over.
Hello Axel :) Many thanks for the clear instructions on how to get the Nikon scanner to works with Win7 64-bit. I noticed several other beneficial addendums to your famous scanners.inf customization that add 64bit support of some scanners that were not already in the 64bit section (and 1394?). I used Steel's procedure just as described (with the added line under Firewire scanners specifying Super Coolscan 4000 ED.) When I request (in Device Manager) 'update driver' the process runs, installs Nikon Coolscan 5000 Software March 26, 2012 1:10 AM kike said...
k_hill, Dec 4, 2011 #1 horst_heller|2 Thank you very much Steel Chn for providing this valuable inf file! How can I get the drivers to work with my 64 bit OS? Sunday, April 20, 2008 4:07 AM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Hi They must work very slow if it takes them so long to construct a proper inf. This happens every time when I try to scan a strip of negatives using the SA-21 and it happens _almost_ every time when I try to scan a single slide.
Worked great! Nikon Coolscan V Ed Manual I'll be renting a 5000 for a few days - will it work with 32bit version of Windows 7 as well, or do I need some other work around? WHEW!!! Thanks - it worked great and easy for Coolscan V (LS-50).
Imoprtand remark for all of those who could not make the windows see yours scanners.inf and NKScnUSD.dll take and copy any inf. Nice to have Nikon Scan back again. Thanks so much...You saved my LS-5000 ED.....From France.... useful reference dim_k, Nov 8, 2009 #1 blumesan No luck for me. Does anyone know what the cause might be? So adjusted pattern is: install a demo version of an application which incorporates 64-bit drivers for my Nikon Coolscan V ED (e.g. Nikon Coolscan V Ls-50 Ed
Hi - everybody and AxelI was running Windows 7 and the tip from Axel was very, very useful. If you choose to participate, the online survey will be presented to you when you leave the Technet Web site.Would you like to participate? When I look under driver details, only 2 files are listed: ksthunk.sys & sciscan.sys. my review here One wonders - they have the information - why didn't they hire a developer and a tester for a few days, update the drivers, and make their clients happy?
While I have seen several references (in this forum and elsewhere) that Steel Chn's workaround has succeeded with several models of Nikon scanners running on Vista/64 and also many who have Nikon Scan Windows 10 I'm using LS-5000 model. I hat no choice, so I followed the pattern proposed for Vista: install a demo version of an application which incorporates 64-bit drivers for my Nikon Coolscan V ED (like SilverFast http://pic3nter.com/nikon-coolscan/nikon-ls-30-drivers.php After some research on the Nikon Scan driver and VueScan driver, finally I find a perfect way to DIY my own driver, actually it is a combination of VueScan/NS driver files.
I see now that this is a recognised solution for the LS-50 ED under Vista 64-bit, but at least I can confirm that it works for Windows 7 64-bit. With that change, the LS-5000 driver installed correctly. sjstremb May 9, 2008 Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED thebard37 May 9, 2008 Plustek 7200i frank perry May 9, 2008 Thanks Frank Olyinaz May 9, 2008 Re: this is a huge win for me as i was fearing i was going to have to setup xp mode and jump through hoops to get it working!
