Nikon told me that the last os it would work on was 2000 Pro so I've just taken an old machine out of th bin and istalled that on it. Actually, now I think about it, it produced banding in uniform lighter areas too, like clear blue skies. Nikon Film scanners of the Nikon CoolScan brand belong to the most popular and quality devices for scanning negatives and slides. It can produce good results, but the big problem with mine was that it couldn't cope very well with dark areas in images - there was significant banding present. Before doing so I tested it under XP successfully using the update of the original driver (I am thinking it was around v1.4) which predated XP (and 2000).

For this particular scanner then it is usually better to stick to the Nikon scanning software that comes with the scanner. thanks,Brad. The SCSI card you need for this scanner is not much of an investment. VueScan is here to help.

If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver. Don't try to use the scanner on dense transparencies! Nikon has cancelled the support for its own scanner software, versions for the actual operating systems aren't existing. thanks.

I had a problem at first when the cable was not seated properly.I used the self-extracting ASPI driver in the self extracting aspi_47a2.exe.
